Jason Kelce Swigging Bud Light Shirtless Behind Taylor Swift Sparks Delight
While the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills 27-24 Sunday, Jason Kelce, center for the Philadelphia Eagles, was the man of the moment.
The matchup decided whether the Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship game in Baltimore or if their season would come to an end. To support Travis Kelce, his friends and family sat in the VIP box to cheer him on. Not only did this include his brother, but also his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, and girlfriend Taylor Swift. The divisional round playoff game marked the first time that Swift has been seen with Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie Kelce, since she began dating the Chiefs tight end in 2023.
As Jason Kelce was seen tearing off his t-shirt and leaping from their suite at Highmark Stadium into the stands, the "Bad Blood" singer hid her face with her hands. His enthusiastic response came after his younger brother scored a touchdown in the second quarter, his first in eight games.
Now videos of a shirtless Jason Kelce drinking Bud Light behind Taylor Swift being shared online have people in stitches on X, formerly Twitter.
Newsweek contacted Travis Kelce via the New Heights podcast email and the brewing company Anheuser-Busch for comment via email on Monday.
"A shirtless Jason Kelce, holding a Bud Light & celebrating his brother Travis' touchdown inside the Taylor Swift Luxury Box is the best thing you'll see all day," one person wrote.
"Jason Kelce shirtless drinking a Bud Light in the background is incredible," someone else wrote alongside a video of Swift and Brittany Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, hugging each other. Sure enough, Jason Kelce could be seen sipping from a beer can behind them.
"CBS cutting to Taylor Swift only to have Jason Kelce shirtless in the background chugging a beer is glorious," a third person wrote.
A fourth added: "Jason Kelce slamming Bud Lights behind Taylor Swift is pure art."
Others pointed out that Jason Kelce was drinking Bud Light after the brand experienced a boycott in 2023. The boycott began in response to a sponsorship campaign the company conducted with TikTok personality Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender woman.
A video that Mulvaney posted on her Instagram account promoting the beer brand sparked a backlash from conservative Americans, notably musician Kid Rock, who called for a boycott against both Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch. Now people on X are saying how much they love the football player for still drinking the beer brand.
"Jason Kelce trolling all of maga with Bud Light can. Love it!" one X user said.
"Showing Taylor Swift celebrating in the same shot as a shirtless Jason Kelce is drinking a Bud Light is the third ring of MAGA Hell," said another.
A third added: "a single camera shot showing taylor swift at a football game and jason kelce drinking a bud light is gonna make the worst people we know so upset. that rules."
Jason Kelce's appearance at the game on Sunday comes after rumors that he is retiring from football. After the Philadelphia Eagles' season-ending playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on January 15, the 36-year-old told teammates he was retiring after his 13th season, per NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo.
However, in an episode of New Heights, Jason Kelce said when the time is right, the public will hear from the man himself. He explained that after the game he didn't announce what he was doing on purpose, despite "what's been leaked to the media."
"I just don't think you're in the position after a game like that to really make that decision, I just don't. There's too much emotion in the moment to fully really grasp that decision," he said.
