One of the billionaire Koch brothers has put his waterfront estate in Cape Cod on the market for $15million but the realtor says the nine-bedroom estate is not a grandiose mansion.

Bill Koch, the brother of fellow oil investors Charles and David, bought the home in 1983 and has spent the past two decades filling it with nautical collectibles.

'If you're looking for a big mansion, this is not it,' listing agent Robert Kinlin told The Cape Cod Times.

The 8,653-square foot home has nine bedrooms that are split among the main house and the guest house, eight full baths and four half baths.

In addition to having access to a private beach, the property also has an on-ground pool and a deep-water dock that can fit multiple large boats at the same time.

That dock was clearly important to Mr Koch as he is an avid yachtsman whose boat won the prestigious America's Cup in 1992.

'It has been left in excellent condition, but it is reminiscent of old Cape Cod. It's timeless,' Mr Kinlin said.

While the realtor and online listings may be downplaying the grandeur of the estate, one of the more lavish touches is the state-of-the-art wine cellar.

It has also hosted a number of large events over the years, including a fundraiser for Mitt Romney during his failed presidential campaign last year.

Mr Kinlin says properties of this size- with such a hefty price tag- typically take between six and 18 months to sell.

Mr Koch won't be too put out during that time, however, as he broke a local record by buying the most expensive property nearby.

His new home used to belong to Rachel 'Bunny' Mellon, a reclusive heiress who, in recent years, came back into the spotlight due to her donations to disgraced politician John Edwards' effort's to hide his pregnant mistress during the 2008 presidential campaign.

Mr Koch bought her 26-acre estate- which is described as being around the corner from his home.

One of the most noted parts of her land are the carefully-tended gardens that she spent years developing.
